Default 1993 Civic EX D16Z6 won't start after adding gas

I have a 1993 Civic Ex with the d16z6 engine, and after I put gas in the car I either have to get it jump started or push it, and pop the clutch in 2nd or 3rd to start it. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

This only occurs after putting gas in it? How low is it when you refill it usually(not saying you're and idiot and you're just out of gas)? Actually, thats probably irrelavent but, let us know anyways.

The car still has enough gas in it to run. I also noticed that even when I'm very close to the empty line, the gas light doesn't come on. Maybe there is something wrong with a sensor, but even if there was, it wouldn't keep the car from starting.

we need more info for good responses.

is it only problematic when the tank is full? how does it run once you have it started? at what point does it start and run normally? what other work have you done to the car recently?

I just bought the car about a week ago. It has 200k on the motor, the pressure in the tank seems to be fine. After the car is started, I don't really have any problems trying to get it started until I try and put gas in it again. I haven't filled up the whole tank yet, so I don't know how the car does with a full tank. I went to Auto Zone yesterday so they could check my battery and alternator, but it was inconclusive because the car wouldn't start on its own with the cables connected to it. I had to get another jump after that. I have also been told by a mechanic that did an oil pressure diagnostic for me that the oil pressure is low. It has the correct amount of oil in the engine, there are no leaks, the timing belt was just changed about a month ago, the coolant was flushed also. At 800 RPM (idle), the oil pressure is 8 psi, at 3000 RPM, the pressure is 25 psi. The pressure at these RPM's should be 10 and 50 psi respectively. The mechanic also said there is a faint knocking noise coming from the engine, and he said I need a new engine. Is this true, or is there some other way to fix the issue? If I do need an engine, can I buy a D15b and swap them out, or is it the equivalent of putting an engine in that doesn't belong in that car? I hope someone know what I'm talking about. Thanks.

interesting. do you trust that mechanic? there is a strong possiblity that the motor is just getting tired. you could look into a motor swap, but it seems like you are going to need somebody else to do it for you. the d15b should be a straight forward swap.

before you go buying a motor there are a couple things you could look into, cleaning the iacv, replacing the fuel filter, and filling the tank while adding some injector cleaner might be a good start.

do you know when the last oil change was?? i want to say that some good old sea foam treatment could solve this, but i cant be certain.
