okay i go to the gas station.. i filled up on a tank of premium (93 octane) because my ignition is fully advanced on my D16z6. after filling up i went in to pay and they had a stand featuring STP fuel injector cleaner, so i bought that along with my tank of gas. i put in the injector cleaner just as the bottle told me, in a full tank of gas. well the car starts up fine, i start to pull out of the gas station and it turns over a few times and then goes nowhere. so i let off the gas and rolled into an adjacent parking lot... and i let the car idle and it did so fine, then i tried reversing into a parking space and it sputtered and backfired and then died. i started it again and it backfired and died. now when i try and start it, it makes the noise like you put the ignition wires in the wrong order. i looked in my muffler to see if there was anything in it, and there were giant fingernail clipping size chunks of black resin. is my motor blown? what the hell happened? the car wont even start... it just makes the mis-firing noise.

wow! it could be cleaning the carbon out does it start now??? you might try reving it fro a little bit maby that would spit more carbon out itf that is the case i am not a hundo percent sure but it is just a thought

try putting your timing back to stock.

yes.....and you are probably cleaning out the carbon in engine...

yea thanks, i let it sit in the parkinglot and i went to get it after work. it started right up... i guess it was blowin the gunk out... i gave it a lil run up through the gears on the way home and it doesnt sputter on downshifts anymore and the powerband feels smoother... so i guess it was worth a little hassle for an improvement.

it wasn't the STP cleaner.

I'd be looking into a Main relay or ignitor.
