1992 Civic VX Stalls / Dies During Acceleration / Load / Quick Throttle Opening
I have a 1992 Civic VX w/ 215K miles. During a commute to work the vehicle stumbled and died while travelieng @ 60 mph. When this first happened the vehicle would start and idle but when you tried to rev it up it would die. If you tried to drive it the engine would stumble and die under load. There are no codes stored, there is fuel pressure, spark, the crank and cam are timed. I have tried another ecu with the same rusults. All of the distributor components check out (even the wiring to the ecu). No evidence of vacuum leaks. If the car starts it can be reved to 6000 rpm if you do it slowly. If you blip the throttle it dies and is difficult to restart. The car will drive in 1st or 2nd gear if you use very little throttle. HELP - I do not know where to look next???
Thanks. Also, checked compression, changed plugs and fuel filter...

Re: 1992 Civic VX Stalls / Dies During Acceleration / Load / Quick Throttle Opening (leondx)
Today I checked the MAP sensor per the manual even thouth there was no code 3 or 5 (no codes at all). The MAP sensor checked out OK. I went to start the car to evaluate the condition at a cold start, the vehicle would not start, it cranked but would not fire. I removed all the spark plugs and they were all fuel fouled and wet. I cleaned them with brake clean and sand blasted the porcelain and install the plugs in the plug wire and put them on the valve cover. When I cranked all plugs had a good spark. I reinstalled them and cranked the engine - no fire - all plugs came out wet again... Still no codes stored in the ECU. What can cause the engine to flood with no codes stored???

you sure you're getting spark? sounds like a spark issue if your plugs are coming out wet.
i also had a stumbling issue when i owned a VX. it was due to a leaky/cracked exhaust manifold. this causes the 5-wire o2 to not get the correct readings sending wrong information to the ecu. thereby screwing the a/f ratios and causing a bad driveability condition.

It could also be a miserably clogged exhaust. Unbolt your exhaust at the bottom of the exhaust manifold, and see if it runs any better.

Re: 1992 Civic VX Stalls / Dies During Acceleration / Load / Quick Throttle Opening
Bought injector cleaner, Cap/Rotor, and Plugs. Hopefully these work.
Good call! If the above doesn't help I'll try this.
