1992 Civic Dx -Cannot take off distrubutor rotor
Hey everyone... Going through the car (1992 Civic DX) and doing tune-up and when I took the cap off I realized I could not get the rotor off. My new rotor has a space for a bolt but this old one does not. I turned the rotor around and around and cannot find a screw or bolt - I tried pulling on the thing - but stopped cause I didn't want to break it. The manual shows a screw but I do not see it. Any ideas?

*edit - i'm an idiot and thought you meant brake rotor! lol, sorry.
my only guess is that the dizzy may not be an original one so you may be out of luck getting that thing off.

I've seen aftermarket ones that didn't have provisions for a screw, they're a tight press fit. Chances are really good that it isn't coming off in one piece.

I had that happen once took forever to get off.
spray with some oil, then try rocking it back and forth, if that does not work get some pliers grab and pull up.

The first time I changed mine, I had to literally use a dremel to remove the inner metal ring from the distributor shaft. Basically all the plastic had dry rotted leaving the metal ring. I cut slots in the ring, and used a wide tanged screwdriver to seperate the slots I cut. No amount of lube would help remove it.

Thanks guys .... Well I had a second pair of eyes verify that it definitely does not have a screw or bolt. I went to Autozone and they verified that the rotor assigned to the make and model does need a screw just like the manual states.
So here's my dilemma ....
#1 If i take the old one off -I HOPE- there will be a hole for the proper screw beneath it. If so ... where can I get a screw made just for that part?
#2 If I take it off and there is no screw hole (funny) If I place my rotor (with hole) on the shaft will it stay put without flying off? Or where can I get a rotor with no hole?
Ughhh.....

I just pulled mine off with a puller, it broke on me and had to use a small pry bar to carefully remove the remaining pieces and just pushed the new one back on ! Being very careful in every step!

^ Ah, the old battery terminal puller, never thought of that. They work great for removing stubborn wiper arms as well.
As for the screw you can get it from Honda, part number: 30135-P08-006 SCREW-WASHER (5X12) Should be about a dollar.
Also put a little neverseize on the shaft when you put the new one on to prevent it from sticking, just a small amount though.
