Oem factory hx alloys are 14" so I have no clue where you got 16 from.
Actually all civic's 92-00 were 14" with the exception of the 99-00 si which has 15"

WTF r u even talking about Type R wheels are you driving an EK9 do you have a 5 lug conversion on your car 195/55/15 is the standard size for the Civic type R by the way so you just made a fool of yourself again! nothing less than 16's that wheel size should be your max driving a civic with 17's+ is terrible 15 is factory size
oh fyi before you try to spit out a fact thats in your head reaserch it because you have said 2 so far that are way off

Re: 17x7.5 on a 98 civic hx
maybe you should check out the INTEGRA type r wheels .....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/180644074253...ht_1821wt_1177
i have 17s on my car now with a factory ride height and it rides pretty good .. idk what rigged up setup you all drive but mine is just fine and doesnt ride like a box on steel wheels.. even with a 16 and certain tire setup the car could possibly ride exactly the same.. so it depends on the owner and how they set it up not how big the rims and tires are ... so the next time you wanna say someone shoved their foot in their mouth you might wanna think and use ur brain a little bit .. just sayin

i personally agree with 98EJ7 an EK (or ej technically) looks best with 16s or 17s NO bigger NO smaller (16" +25 offset my personal Fav....)
If you are a big *** CROWD follower go ahead and rock ur 15s with 0 offset, and Neon colored engine bay, you are probly the same one rockin a 4ft tall wing 5-10 years ago...
When it comes right down to it, its HIS car you guys, who cares what he puts on it, he was just asking a simple question and yall are flaming the **** outta him...
OP_ yes the 17x7.5 will fit just fine DEPENDING on ride height and offset... if you are slammed to the ground and they are like +15 offset, not gonna happen (with fenders anyway lol).... a mild drop and around +35-+40 ish youll be fine, might roll fenders to be safe...

Re: 17x7.5 on a 98 civic hx
I gotta say as long as the offset is correct and the side wall of the tire isn't too big 17's will fit no trouble personally I don't like that big of a wheel but that's me but hell u2 national champ ran 17's on an ek chassis so....it all what you like and want

Re: 17x7.5 on a 98 civic hx
16's look great on a 6th gen.
The right 17" wheel does too. A little big for some peoples taste, but some people run humongous brakes and need a 17" wheel for road racing.
Offset definitely matters a lot when you start getting 205+ tire sizes. My 16x7 +33 Volks fit perfectly, I'm sure if they were +40s that might be a different story.
In my opinion, camber should be used to keep the cars handling ideal both while driving straight and while the car is turning. Using camber to make your wheels fit properly for sitting in your driveway is a very dangerous way to go about setting up your cars suspension. You may make the car handle unpredictably or just plain bad when you need to dodge an accident or if you're trying to take an off-camber turn at your local autocross event.
Please keep the discussion technical or I will likely lock the thread. I'm still tempted to move it to wheel and tire.
