12 volt wires to tap into?
Hey all, I recently decided to hard wire my radar detector so I can free up my cigarette lighter/plug. I have a direct cable that is to tap into a 12volt supply in the car. Since I'm pretty novice at the electronics in the car, I was hoping HT could help out a bit. What 12 volt supplies would be good to tap into for this? From what I recall, my car (EJ8, '98 ex) should have a few optional 12 volt spades near the fusebox? Also, I was thinking of possibly wiring my XM receiver as well, does anybody know if any 5 volt supplies exist in the car? Any insight on this would be awesome.
Thanks!
Thanks!

look for a under dash fuse box diargram, above the fuses there will be spade connectors with nothing connected and those are "auxiliaries" if you will that you can plug stuff up to, or you can just tap the radio fuse or whichever one you want

no 5volt supply, what u will need to do in order to hardwire the sat radio is get an adapter. Female cig adapter plug (12v) You plug the sat radio cig adapter into the female adapter and tape it up. The other end of the female adapter will have 2 wires one (+) and the other (-) hardwire these two into a acc source.
