Default Pointless product review... 1st installment

Im going to start reviewing pointless 'mods'. This contribution to honda-tech will probably **** people off and i will get 'flamed' but i just think you guys need a little comic relief.

Item #1
Sylvania 9003 Halogen bulbs
OEM replacement bulb
Part #: 9003 BP

Reason for upgrade:
"Better visibility yo!"

Actuall reason for upgrade:
"Because im too impatient to save up somthing that will actually improve the performance or driving experience of my car... yo!"

Heres how it went down:
I was driving my brother-in-law's (brother's-in-law?) car around because mine was... not available at the time. A headlight went out and I thought to myself "I should probably replace that". I make way to the local import parts superstore... Walmart. Now let me just take a time out to give props to the auto section "up in heeerrre". Its obviously stocked by the most competent of import enthusiasts. With plenty of fuzzy dice and air fresheners and super white/blue headlights to go around I was in encompassed in automotive personalization bliss.
So Im looking for a bulb. I spot a diamond in the rough...
exhibit (A)

With only 6 Racks left I figure I need to grab them while they are hot and get the hell out of dodge before i get trampled.
Skip to a couple of days later. My car becomes available to drive again and I...
NO! Jump back...
So i head out to the parking lot to put my master mechanic skills to the test. Im not going to get into the who's and why's and where's of replacing a headlight but let me just tell you that its no piece of pie.
So Im under the hood, replacing this bulb and getting revved on by what I believe was a cavalier. I ignore his pleas to get his *** handed to him (because "street racing is fun as ****!... I mean stupid") and continue with this attempt to fix the headlamp. Come to find out that the bulb in the car is fine. *sigh*
It was a fuse... A fuse... "Should have checked that first, newbie." Anyways. I toss the bulbs in the back of the car and over the course of the next day or three, I manage to lose the receipt. When i go back to return the bulb Im greeted by the friendly ladies at customer service.

TOP NOTCH!

Actual conversation (as clearly as could be rembered at the time of the post)

Brian : Hi, nice lady at wal-mart. Let me just take a moment to thank you ahead of time for your patience and concern with my current predicament. That said, I have a set of headlights here that I would like to return.
Nice Lady : ...
Brian : See the thing is my car ate my receipt. Isnt that the craziest thing you've ever heard?
Nice Lady : I cant be givin' no refun' without no receipt. All I can do i'z sto' credit.
Brian : Shucks! How unfortunate for me. I guess Ill just take my merchandise now and leave. I dont want to hold up the line back here.
*points* *crickets chirping*
Nice Lady : ...
Brian : Ok then you have a nice day.
*walk away*

So, Im left with some new Sylvania OEM replacement bulbs that i REALLY dont need...

Skip back to a few days later.
My car becomes available to drive and I figure 'What the hey' I have these bulbs, why not see if they look a little more *blingity bling* than the perfectly working bulbs that came in the car.

Well lets see if you can tell a difference. Im not going to tell you which picture is the one with the stock bulbs and which has a replacement bulb in. It doesnt matter because the difference is negligable. (ie. there is none)

After checking the visibilty from about 2 different angles I had made my decision. The Sylvania's are now back in their packaging and awaiting exchange for the Sylvania Silverstars (or whatever they are called) when they come in at Walmart. Dont worry ill be camping out in front of the store the night before the shipment. I wont miss the chance to get my hands on these fines specimens.

I hope you enjoyed my story and are looking forward to my next review:
97 D16Y8 intake manifold on 2000 D16Y7.

Ha. I liked it. It gave me humor. I see no difference at all in the lights though. Oh well youre out a couple of bucks but at least it was an experience!! I love Wal-Mart folks!

im so sick of people pretending to be the newbie ricers in their posts. its pretty gay. stop it! it seems to be the new trend (cough, cough, JDM, cough). im not meaning to insult but the post probably would have been better if you just talked normal. no need to pretend to be funny.

i lol'd at this. see if you can exchange those bulbs for a couple seat covers w/ either taz or some uninterpreted asian writing on them. major points w/ judges at shows.

Jeez that's funny! Taz or Kanji? Tough choice. They also have a lot of NASCAR accessories too.

In all seriousness...

I was looking for new lights and I ended up getting something in a purple/black package that I think were made by Phillips. They had "HO" at the end of the part number which stand for High Output.

They supposedly put out 30% more light and I did notice a difference in visibility.

You should be able to find them at any auto parts store.

If there was any serious point to the post to begin with i think i was trying to say that its kind of dumb to get new bulbs if your old ones arent out of commision...

I also dont think this post is ready for any page two action yet soo... BUMP!

I take it back. This thread wasn't supposed to be anywhere even remotely close to serious. I was trying to come with a new angle for the msg forum.

Comedy.

MOST posts now days fall under a few simple categories.

1. Look at... This could be a car of your own. A car of someone elses. A mod. Somthing stupid. Anything...
2. Product review.
3. How do I...
4. ETC.
and on and on.

I just want something new. Honda-Tech has a rep. of being soo serious and harsh. I want ppl to be able to appreciate a sense of humour aside from bashing newbies and 'riced' out cars. Granted, its funny and all, but it gets old.

Please just dont take all this too seriously. I just really like to have fun with things. I dont post much but its just because I dont open my mouth (at least I try to keep it to a minimum) if I dont have first hand experience.

Like i said before...

-Tech.com

for everyone.
ITS THE WEEKEND!!!

Just so you know - for the next time - all you have to do is get a store credit. Use that to buy another set of bulbs. That will give you a receipt. Then, return the new bulbs for a cash refund. Hello?!?!?!

That would work, except if I was behind the counter.

See, I used to work at CompUSA and whenever someone would try to pull that **** and would give me a hard time about only store credit I would just open the cd-rom or package right in front of them before they lef tthe store.

That way, they'd still have an open package and they couldn't come in the next day and get full money back when someone dumber was working.

I'm sure it'd "werk at walmart 4 sho, y0!"
