Default 00 hatch price questions

Just checked out a 00 White DX hatch tonight. In pretty good shape. Has 15700 miles, 5-speed, am/fm, and no air. The only things wrong are one blank plate where the power mirrors would be has a hole drilled in it can fix that easy. The pocket under the radio was broken and hanging out a little, well you could pull it right out. There was one touched up spot on the front bumper and it was a little off on the pasengers side where the hood and bumper meet up to me. I think maybe the front bumper has been painted but not sure. None of the bolts under the hood for the fenders and what not have been moved. Pretty clean inside, dirty as hell on the outside just needs a wash is out in the country.

Anyway they wanted $12000 and I offered them $7500 for it to start with. They came back and say the lowest they will go is $9500 and they bought the car at an auction for $9350. A few months ago they claimed to have bought it for $13000 though. The car has been there 4-5 months.

I told them I might pay $8500 at the most and really think that is to much they said no way...

Sorry for the long post but what do you guys think?

look around.....

No A/C, holes, touched up parts, and broken inserts? 9,500 bucks? Are they on crack? I might consider that price if the body was in flawless condition, but it's obviously sustained a little damage. Is this from a dealer? Are you getting a Honda Certified Used Car warranty? If the answer to these questions are no, then I'd tell them to take that offer and shove it up their ***.

Basicly your paying for a damaged shell=3000 bucks tops
and a low mileage D16 engine=800 bucks

Of course the car has relatively little ware, but to a honda enthusiast the car is not worth more than 4000 bucks. It doesn't matter what year it is, the body is damaged and the engine is an 800 dollar ebay auction...period.

Problem is, finding a white EK w/ that kind of low mileage on it is tough. Keep in mind, it is an '00 and Civics don't devalue too quickly. Unless it has some serious damage, they'll get some good coin for it.

Someone will jump on it...

How bad do you want a white EK?
I can't see paying more than 8grand for it max. My buddy just purchased a 00 White hatch for somewhere around 5 and it was in flawless condition with Si wheels.

My $.02.......... Just be patient and you will be able to get one at the price you are looking for. I just bought a 97 EK(red) with some nasty 17's and some even nastier altezzas for only $3000. I come across very often so email me and I might be able to help you locate one.

FOR SALE or TRADE: Altezzas for EK hatch for stock 99 and up taillights

Where the hell are you guys finding EK's so goddamn cheap? I've been looking for a while now and don't see any that low. $5k for a 00? Sounds fishy. These things are pretty rare to find in NE, I don't know about the rest of the US.......

5 grand for a 2 year old Honda ANYTHING sounds fishy to me. A clean EG Si can fetch 5k EASILY--especially w/ the demand on hatches now--but an 00 for 5k?! Not unless it's a theft recovery, or something else odd.

Yea I told them straight up that $8000 was top dollar from me for this hatch with no air and they said thanks for driving 2 hours to look at it. See ya...

I really want a white hatch more than any other. I know if I get any other color I will want a paint job. Maybe I should just look for a 96 and paint it champ white or something I don't know...

To the guy that bought his for $5000 Ill give you $5500 if the body and frame are straight on it... LOL

Honestly, 9500 for a white 00 hatch with 15K is not all that bad. I remember only a few months ago when I was searching, they were all around 11-12K. If it has a clean title, I think it is a fair price.

Yea, that's more like it. For 5k, you'll be lucky to get a 97 or 98 in good condition, let alone with Si wheels........unless they were my stolen wheels

Yea well, nobody wants my freekin' Si! The hatches are hard enough to find and what I'm worried about is when I finally find the perfect deal, I'll still have my car and won't be able to get it. This sucks!

I'm asking 14 OBO, which I feel is reasonable considering the dealerships are still getting rid of them for 14-18 (depending). I don't even get emails or phone calls. Is it the extended warrenty or the perfect maintainence schedule that scares them away?

Patience, my son. I'm sure you're going to have to take a financial hit of SOMW sort on it, due to it's theft status. I'm hanging onto mine specifically because of your story (mine had a good-size accident last year, so it's prob. worthless )

I'm sure someone will grab it, just be patient. Depending on the mileage, 14k isn't unreasonable at all...
