Default 00 ek sedan overheating?

i have a 00 ek sedan, everything's stock, it's automatic, 130k miles almost. i notice the temp has been going up WAYY high, i was in the drive thru at taco bell and i had to shut my car off because the needle went all the way up. This tends to happen during the day when i'm driving the car but not at night.. any ideas? Thanks for any one who could help me out,

-Matt

It maybe your head gasket or check if you have a crack in your radiator cuz i had the same problem on my civic sedan too.

When was the last time the coolant was flushed and replaced and the thermostat. (the most likely culprit) replaced?

does it occur when driving or only when at a standstill? if it occurs at standstill only then my bet is the fan. check the fuse, switch, and the fan itself.

I think it could be my gasket because I was a little smokey before but I had an oil change done and it went away..

I don't think for the longest time.. and the fluid in the overflow tank seems like a dark green color but I think it's supposed to like lime green. How much does it cost to get this done?

It does over heat faster if I'm at a stand still, but where's the switch for it?

the switch is right by where the thermostat is, which is in that housing with all the coolant lines going to it behind/down the distributor.

the needle tends to go to H when idling if you have air in your system

have you opened the cap when the rad was still hot at one point>

Post a photo showing the color of the coolant in a clear glass container. Get the coolant sample from the drain at the bottom of the radiator and do this only when the engine is cold.

Is the coolant level low in the radiator?

Is your engine oil low?

Have you pulled the spark plugs out to inspect them?
