00 civic DX - temp gauge affected by left blinker or high beams
I recently bought a very rough 2000 Civic DX auto. and every time I put the left turn signal on instead of the turn lamp indicator light up the temp gauge moves up and down. When I turn the brights on the left turn lamp indicator stays light at a constant and the temp gauge goes up and down. outside of that the cluster preforms as it should. The temp gauge even works properly, when I do not use the blinker or the high beams. Any help for what I would need to do to correct this issue.

Re: 2000 civic DX Gauge cluster problems
? This^ question seems to have come out of the blue.[/QUOTE]
Assuming the cluster was bad I would need to replace it right? So if I replaced the cluster would the trip, and odometer be off? Is replacement just a simple plug and play or is there wiring involved?

If the cluster is bad, you can swap your current speedometer/odometer/tripmeter unit to a replacement cluster.

Is there a way to trouble shoot the cluster? or is replacement the best place to start? Is there any specific cluster i would need to purchase, I would like to get somewhat of a better looking cluster. Is there any out there that are compatible with the 2000 civic hatch DX auto?

Can you post a video of the temp gauge behavior with the left turn signal and the high beams on? This may help diagnose the problem.

How would I go about hooking up the tach with a new cluster or is it possible to even do a new cluster with a tach, since I originally I dont have a tach?

I missed these two observations on my first read. I could make some sense of the temp gauge bouncing up and down with the left turn signal. However, it makes less sense that this happens with the high beams on. In the latter case, I'd expect the temp gauge to either go up only or go down only.

Ignore the check engine light I have the famed cracked exhaust manifold and am in the process of sorting one out. It is hard finding a CA legal one that is affordable.
This is a film of the problem that I am having. Sorry, right at the end my lil girl starts laughing really loud she likes to help her dad work on the car.

Re: 00 civic DX - temp gauge affected by left blinker or high beams
I think you have two separate problems. I think I can explain why the high beams turn on the left blinker indicator (LBI) rather than the high beams indicator (HBI) in the cluster.
Wires for these two cluster indicator lights pin right next to each other in cluster connector C, where C6 supplies voltage to the HBI and C7 supplies voltage to the LBI. It seems that terminal C6 is damaged such that rather than supplying voltage to the HBI, it instead supplies voltage to C7. Therefore, C7 gets voltage not only from the LBI wire but also from the HBI wire. The HBI interferes with the LBI from blinking.
Start by removing and unplugging the cluster and inspecting the C6 and C7 terminals in connector C for damage. Also check terminals C3 and C5, which serve the oil pressure light and the CEL in the cluster.
I can't yet explain the temp gauge phenomenon, but take this problem one step at a time.

Ok I pulled the cluster out and checked the pins and connections you mentioned. Everything looks good and clean. On the back of the cluster it self there is some bubbling over one of the circuits in the plastic like circuit board. it looks like even its slightly burned. could this be my problem?
