00 civic dx hatch swap vs mini me and auto to manual
I have bought a 2000 honda civic DX auto with the d16y7. I have low compression in cylinder 4, so I think I need a valve job. This gives me good excuse to think about doing a swap or mini me y8 head swap. I know that I am going to already do a manual swap as well. What I need to know is which transmission is ideal. Which is better full motor swap or just a head swap. I live in Ca so I am limited to what i can get away with. For the motor I was thinking about doing a B16a2. I am unsure though what computer I would need to run, and which transmission will mount to it and fit in the car. So any help, suggestions, and ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: 00 civic dx hatch swap vs mini me and auto to manual
If you swap a y8 or b16 they both will have to be a 2000 to pass smog. It'll probably be easier to find a whole y8 swap with transmission than just trying to piece together a mini me and find a transmission. Look in the FAQ above for all the swap details.

I had thought about just doing a complete y8 manual swap. Would this be better then going with a b16a2? Also I have herd some people saying that there is a compression increase with a y7 block and y8 head. I am looking for the best bang for the buck. This is just going to be a nice to drive daily driver. I am not looking to make a track car or anything high in horse power.
