Depends on a few things... first can u save anymore?? If not turbo the d series, however remember not too much boost n be easy on the trans. If u can save some money get a swap, prob b series, its a stronger n more reliable bases for your project. A 1st gen b16 is only like 1500 so u still got a few bux for bolt ons or labor ect... u can always go turbo down the road, atleast u got something reliable for the time being, n trust me... it will pull even without boost!

if it was me, i rather take $2500 and build a d16y8 up with the $779 special from HT which comes with JE pistons and Eagle Rods. build that up and the d16 will be 300-350whp ready no doubt. It will handle 15psi no problem. But a good condition d16 will handle 10psi on stock internals... just ask turbod16.com

and a d16 is always cheaper.

the LS/VTEC will be good, but my money is on a JE-piston/Eagle rod built D16 w/ Turbo @ 15-18psi and that'll spank a LS/VTEC. D series turbo kits are cheap as well. You can piece one together for as little as $1000.

Here you go:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1111044

$779 SHIPPED for JE pistons/Eagle RODs! SO CHEAP you can run 15-17 PSI AND BE AT 300WHP EASILY ON A D16. You will spank a lot of cars, just because a hatch is light as ****. and 300-350whp on a 2200lb car equates to massive power-to-weight ratio.

I still have time to think of what i'm going to do.

Built the d and boost it vs. spend 1500 on a torquless b16 and another 1k on parts to make it fit/bolts ons hmm, the d is callin my name...

If you think about it, building a d with ls rods and vitara pistons could handle some power.

it doesnt count if the gsxr didnt know he was racing . Seriously, even if it was a 600cc you'd have to have like 300whp to stick with it......
