Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
Hello,
I was thinking of buying an EK hatch in my local area. The listing says that it has been overheating recently and talking to the owner, he doesn't run it hot for too long to not blow the head gasket. It also says that the cars internal was replaced in the last 10 - 20k miles ("Engine block, head gasket, timing belt, water pump, and more"). He is asking 1700 for it, but if I can get it for under 1k, is it worth it?
I do know that it could be cause of a bad head gasket, thermal switch, rad, or even thermostat.

Should I buy this 99 LX Civic
Needs timing belt
Cracked exhaust manifold
Needs tires
137k miles
Excellent interior
Minor rust on bottom of doors
2 owner
All indications are its had excellent care
$1800
I'll do my own work. I've done a 96 odyssey TB. What can I expect to pay for the manifold/CC?

Is it worth it.
So I have had a Honda before but it's been a long time. So a friend is going to sell me his 96 Honda Civic coupe. No rust but does need a paint job and some interior work. I haven't heard it run as battery was dead and it wouldnt jump so he's going to buy a new battery and I'll go and see it than. It is a manual and I wouldn't do any racing mods on it really but was curious if it is worth the 500 if it runs smoothly. Any thoughts or known issues I should look out for. If I do buy it I will of course do oil change spark plugs and tune up stuff like that.

New fuel lines replaced,,how much?
So my daughter has her 1999 civic in for a pretty bad gas leak. I looked under it and told her to take it right to the shop. I wish I had the stuff and time to work on it but I just don't. From the sound of it, both the feed and return lines need to be replaced.
Is there a mechanic in here that can tell me what to expect this to cost?. I didn't think it would cost over say $300 but I may be way off base here. I just don't like the feeling of getting taken by auto shops.
I've had a fuel line replaced on my old 04 Taurus that only cost like $175, so I guess I was expecting something in that area.

Can anyone tell me if changing out the fuel lines on a 99 civic (,I believe its a LS) is a job that can be done at home on jack stands?

93 del sol with a cracked block. Also has a rebuilt title from 2011, professionally repaired. What’s it worth? Is $800 fair? I plan on swapping the engine anyways

Trying to figure out a price on some cams, 1997 Canadian?American spec ITR cams and 98/99spec CTR cams. Both are clean with a lot of the original black coating on them. I figure the CTR's are in the 300-350 range

Looking at a 92’ EG bubble today with an engine swap and Coilovers. He said it runs and drives but needs work, some evidence of rust on quarters but that’s common for North Eastern US. He said it needs work and possibly a throwout bearing. I am new to cars and new to Hondas, but Im very interested in learning. Hes selling it for $2400 OBO but he said he needs it gone... is it worth it?
Owners states .... 1994 Honda Civic hatch runs but need some work car has a bseries swap car has lots of aftermarket parts ,Rims, rear duck bill, lowerd of some coilovers and other stuff, car might need a trow out bareing. Need gone trades entertain. No low ballers

Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
Depending on the brands of the aftermarket parts, it might be worth that price with needing work.
It also depends on what work it needs, if it was a B20-Vtec and he blew the block.... That would hurt the value.
If it's a B16 head to make the B20-Vtec that helps increase the value. If it's a B18C5 or JDM B18C that helps increase the value.
I think you get the idea, it's not something easily answered over the internet and would need to be seen in person and even then, it's a little bit of a crap shoot. Personally I wouldn't pay more than 2000 unless those rims are worth close to a grand on their own.

Should I buy this? '92 Civic Hatch
I'm looking for my first civic to make into a clean daily driver/project car. Is there anything I should be asking the seller and looking for? I am going to see it in two days. Obviously I'll ask if he can go down in price if something needs attention but should it be priced at $3,000 based on the pictures?

Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
The rust would deter me from that price.
I'm no authority on the value of a solid B16A motor.
The Leather Del Sol seats are of value but once again, I don't know what they go for currently.
To me, those are the only 2 things of significant value in that car.
It's a CX chassis with rust, so nothing special except whats been added.
Even the cargo tray has been butchered for speakers.

Looks like a rust bucked with a spray paint paint job. I'd rather have a clean single cam car than a basket case swapped car

Re: $The Value Thread$ What's It Worth? Should I Buy? What's the Cost?
I'm looking at getting into a Civic Del Sol. I found this pretty clean '94 Si on FB Marketplace with only 74k on the odo. (Link: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...4717540186228/)
It's had a body kit and some (imo super ugly) wheels installed, along with white/chrome housing aftermarket taillights and an ebay ram intake. I found all the body kit parts and they add to approximately $450, and the intake is around $50. The taillights cost $150-$200, depending where you get them from. It's listed as a VTEC, which got me excited, until I looked at the (thankfully) provided engine bay photos and found that it is in fact an Si and not a VTEC. (And that it has that Ebay intake, which wasn't listed...) It's got a pretty large dent on the passenger side of the rear bumper, and what looks like some rust or paint chipping along the quarter panel in that same area.
ALL THAT SAID: It's listed at $5500. Which is ridiculous... right? KBB fair private party price for this car is around $2500-$3500. I understand that KBB isn't the most accurate for modified cars or for car enthusiasts in general, considering "bro/drift tax"... But $2000 of brotax? On a '94 Honda? Doesn't seem right to me. I just joined the forum to ask this question and get some opinions from people who know more about these cars than I do.
My take on it is that it's overpriced, and I'd be willing to pay somewhere around $3500 for it. Maybe closer to $4000 with more consideration to the mods. Am I out of line here? Is it reasonably priced? What is a reasonable price for this car? Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Please note that I am LITERALLY brand new here, so I apologize for any n00b mistakes I might have made.
