transmission fluid in the radiator

Default transmission fluid in the radiator

I have a 2009 honda civic. There is a creamy substance in the transmission as well as transmission fluid in the radiator. What could the problem be and how can i fix it???

radiator is leaking internally, swap out the radiator

So is there a trans cooler for this vehicle? If I change the radiator and flush the over flow tank this should solve my problems?

So is there a trans cooler for this vehicle? If I change the radiator and flush the over flow tank this should solve my problems?

so basically flush (change transmission fluid, but also run clean transmission fluid through to try to get all the gunk out?) the transmission as well?

you never ever flush a Honda transmission, just do some drain and fills

Actually there is a way to "flush" the transmission, but you let the tranny pump do the work.

First you have to identify which hose of the trans cooler is the return line. Once you know you can undo that hose from the metal return line and setup a funnel tube to the check stick of the tranny. Put a measuring pitcher under the return hose (from the trans cooler) and have a buddy start the car and let the tranny pump out 1 liter of fluid and turn off the car. Pour a liter into the tranny. Start the car and pump another liter, stop the engine and fill another liter. Wash rinse and repeat for 9 liters and you will get the majority of the fluid out of the transmission and torque converter. The small amount of fluid trapped in the valve bodies (used to control shifting) is small compared to the reservoir and torque converter.

This is a trick to flush out much of the fluid from Honda automatics that doesn't harm them like the flush machines do and is a bit more effective than the 3 x 3 drain and fill technique (drain 3 liters, fill 3 liters, drive 150 KM or 100 miles, repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 drain and fills).
