is it possible to swap the R18 for a K20??
my friend has a 06 EX and is wanting more power, like in the 300hp range. i've searched and found nothing about swapping in a K20 and am wondering if this is even possible. any info would be greatly appreciated.

yeah it's possible, easiest way is go to dealer and swap the r18 for a k20 from their lot.
this guy has type r k20 in the lx, shouldn't have any problem with the k20 from si.

If he wanted a k20, why not get the SI. WIth all the money he is gonna spend especially since his warranty is going out the door with a swap, lol
Anyway, ive seen a few cars with a2's in them.

i would like to be a smartass and say, should have bought a Si, but i am not. after doing some research, i have come to the conclusion that the R18 is the best SOHC motor honda has built. just like any single cam parts are usally cheap compared to K20 parts. i would tell him to boost it, it will be a fun *** dd, that will smoke Si's all day...........IMO

I concur. The r18's are probably going to be like the d16's that are boost beasts. Just give it a few years and people will be rolling with boosted sohcs.

ya, my first response to him was to sell it and get a SI or RSX, but he wants to keep hi EX. IDK...i told him he could boost the R18. if he completely built the R18 and boosted it do you think he could get close the the 300WHP mark and would it be a reliable DD?

Gaining an additional 180WHP to get to that magical 300WHP mark would probably require a sizeable chunk of boost.....which is something the stock internals won't take to kindly to. So yeah a full build would definitely be a good idea.
And it probably COULD be a reliable daily driver if the car is maintained properly and aggressively....but I wouldn't recommend it as a daily driver.

idk really, i just thought i'd like to take the engine and screw with it??? you dont like messing with engines? isn't one of the best ways to learn about your engine is to take it all apart and put it back together and see what you can do with it?
