What are you guys running once you get the stocks off? I'm looking to spend about 115-125 per. I really need an all season with good treadlife over performance.

I would really recommend replacing all 4 at once, and rotating them frequently. The only reason you would need only 2 tires is improper rotation intervals.

Great stuff X and Jon. And you are correct Jon that I did not rotate properly. I waited wayyyyy too long to do it. This is my first front wheel drive car to be honest, I have learned my lesson.

i put falken rt-615 and i spent about 125-130 and i can tare through turns i highly recommend thoose but if u dont rotate often they will wear fast as hell

Did you even read the OP's needs? He needs an All-Season tire with good treadlife, the RT615 is about as far as you can get from that as is physically possible.

I don't use all seaons, but friends have ran the toyo Proxes 4 and they love them. The site is down now so I can't confirm this, but check out http://www.edgeracing.com, I believe they have them for a good price.

Again, a summer only tire with a ridiculously short treadlife. The Advan S.4 isn't a good tire for how much it costs.

Let me post this to get it out of the way:

Best UHP A/S Tire: Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS
Best Bang for Buck UHP A/S Tire: Kumho Ecsta ASX

Anything else is really not worth looking at at this point in time, unless you can't find either of these tires in the size you are looking for. If that is the case, some other really good tires include the Pirelli PZero Nero M/S, Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, and the Avon Tech 550 A/S.

Ok, instead of starting a new thread, I figured I would piggy back on this thread. I tried to wait till the thread died before hijacking. My new HFP rims arrived last night. Very awesome looking rims. Rim size is 18x7.

So now I need tires. I spent hours last night going through threads and the internet, trying to figure out what would be best for the car and the way I drive. I would like a tire with Z speed rating, great handling, quiet and not bad in the rain. I live in the bay area of CA, and we do not get snow here, in fact, we don't get much rain here either (at least this year we did not). The roads are not great, lot's of potholes, and not really "smooth", if you know what I mean, they are like ribbed or something.

After my research, I ended up with 5 possible choices. I would like to know which is the best in your opinion. Assume I am willing to pay up to $225.00 per tire. The size I am looking at is 225/40/18.

The only time I ever really wanted good tires was when I bought tires for my beefed up Mustage, back 25 years ago. Then, I bought Goodrich Radial T/A's. Since then I only looked at the cheapest tire.

Anyway, here are my tires of interest.

Kumho Ecsta ASX
Falken Ziex ZE-512
Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Yolohama Paracia Spec-2

You are from California so I am assuming you aren't going to get a whole lot of snow or below freezing temperatures, is that an alright assumption to make? If so, an A/S tire for you is sort of pointless, I would go with the Goodyear F1GS-D3, or if you can afford them the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position (it is important to include the pole position part, they are a relatively new tire and vastly outperform the old RE050A) which are the current top dog in the Max Performance Summer category. Neither of these will last as long as the All-Season offerings, but they will perform significantly better. If you really want to stick with an All-Season for the added tread life (I would personally go for summer tires even though they will last ~10,000mi less in the case of the Goodyear), I would recommend the Bridgestone RE960 A/S.
