engine question
hey guys i don't really know much about car stuff so i have a wierd question. i went to pick up my sister from school and i parked my car near the sidewalk in a neighborhood, but i didn't turn the engine off. this stupid lady parks behind me pretty close and she has an SUV and another car parked behind her so she couldn't get out and she honked at me so i ended up turning the key to start the engine even though it was already on (i forgot it was on). is this bad for my engine or transmission?
Bad for the engine, the flywheel and starter in particular. Once is a while will not really do anything. However, each time you do it, you risk breaking the starter solenoid, or worse, breaking teeth off the flywheel.
Now, if you had REAL LOUD exhaust system, you would have known the engine was still running.
