How do you go about getting a kit like this installed for 3800 Ivtec? Even in one of the cheap greddy kits you will have unforeseen costs and I'd say you would have 6 grand in it by the time it's said and done.

i get hooked up at the local shop.
they have a direct wholesale account with options auto
which is in azusa, and im only an hour away from them, which means low shipping costs
and the whole sale price is also lower for my local shop because the owners of the local shop and options auto went to school together back in the day.

no it smokes from the tail pipe as soon as i touch the gas petal in neutral. nothing smoking under the hood which leads me to believe its the turbo.

You have it backwards bro!

If the oil can't drain due to being located to low in the pan, it gets backed up and blows by the seals and smokes out of the exhaust!

well you will have to relocate the oil return anyway, even if you rebuild the turbo. So I would do that first and then you may get lucky and the turbo will be fine.

The other guy may be running low on oil and then once the oil is circulated through the motor he may very well not smoke like you say.

Rebuild the turbo anyway. If you really got the deal you say you did, something was probably wrong. Better safe than sorry.

yup called the place today and they told me a basic rebuild is $325..but somewhere in the back of my head i have a feeling is also the return or feed line...the return line is draining into the drain plug via a banjo bolt and i know that u should have the return line as far up but then again the turbo could be really bad so its a lose lose rite now.

^Right. So that's why I say relocate the return in the pan first because if the smoking goes away then you don't have to rebuild. If you rebuild first I gaurantee you still will have to relocate the return and you would've spent 325 too much.
