06 AC 'Issue'
Hey guys,
Just brought home an 06 EX and noticed the AC light on the panel is continuously lit green. The only thing that turns it off is by turning the fan off. I found the DIY procedure of disabling the AC for the defrost mode, so I tried it as a long shot......it never helped.
I'm wondering if this is a common problem, or is it a trip back to the dealer?

Why would you want to disable the a/c with the defroster on anyway? The a/c dehumidifies the air which is what makes the defroster effective that's why is comes on automatically when you set the control to defrost.

Leave it alone Dan. Save yourself a trip to the stealer.......dealer........Dan. Next thing you know they'll be telling you your compressor failed, your tires have flat spots and your engine is losing compression.
Don't start jackin with electrical wires or you'll end up burning your car to the ground. That doesn't sound very good does it Dan?
Nice to meet you Dan.
Tks for the replies.
Maybe I should describe the issue with a little more detail. When I test drove the car prior to purchase, I of course ran the heating, AC, and vent system through all modes. Everything seems to work as describe in the manual (when Max AC selected the recirc is engaged and correct vent is selected for instance). I did notice however, when I deselected Max, the AC light remained on (showing the green LED) and I could not turn it off. I tried pressing the button once, pressing and holding, double tapping...nothing worked. The only thing that turns out the light is by turning off the fan. I mentioned that to the gal who ended up selling me the car, and she in turn had the techs look into it. They ran diagnostics (whatever that is!) and could not find anything wrong with the system.
I am certain that the AC compressor engages when the light is on, because when the car is at idle with the fan off, I hear the compressor engage immediately when the fan is turned on.
I don't necessarily want to disengage the AC from defrost, I was attempting to troubleshoot the issue. And Rico, you made me chuckle! Thanks!!

Yes. I live in Eastern Canada, it's mid March (therefore no requirement for AC), and as soon as I turn on the vent fan, the AC engages (light on). I suspect this is not normal, and would like to get it sorted out rather than let the compressor operate every time the fan is turned on.

Hey guys,
I thought I would offer an update on my AC issue.
As I explained above, with the vent fan turned on, I couldn't turn the AC off...no matter what mode (defrost, face, feet, face/feet etc.) I had selected. The green LED remained on and the compressor cycled on and off.
I took the car to the stealership yesterday and they fixed it. Apparently there was an issue with the AC ‘button’…whatever that means. The repair was done with no cost to me, which was surprising. I immediately ‘re-programmed’ the vent system using the procedure found on this site to enable me to turn the AC off during defrost, and low and behold, it worked.
