Default Keyless Entry?

I have a Honda Civic LX 2001, when I bought it it only came with one key. Before I go out of my way to try install a keyless entry system is there anyway that I can know if there is one installed and I just need to buy a new remote for it.

Pull the center dash cover. Under the radio. Ther is a keyless control unit mounter behind there if you have the system.

He most likely doesn't have it, since it's an LX. You used to be able to buy the modules through h and a, but now they don't stock them anymore.

I believe Honda stopped manufacturing them.

Back from the dead thread..sorry.
I picked up an 03 LX for my daily and trying to get keyless wired up. I located an oem keyless module (box-38385-s5a-a; fcc id - NHVWD1U521) but the damn car is NOT wired for the module!! I found a pdf of the install instructions and it clearly uses a dedicated plug n play wire harness to interface with the keyless box....My 03 does not have this.

Any one know how I can wire this up or get it working? No boneyards will sell the wire harness and the oem setup is obviously discon't from Honda (08E60-S5D-100).

Thanks.

Not really a good option for me right now... I have the module and two oem remotes. I found this diagram but dont know what wires function as what. I'm guessing simple ign, constant, grd, ? that I could steal from the headunit.

Got it working. Diagram above:
1. Black=Grd
2. Blue/Orange=Data to ecu
3. Yellow=Ign (cig lighter)
4. empty
5. White/Red=constant (radio harness)

Not bad for a $35 junkyard part and $30 for two honda remotes on ebay.

Hello, where did you get your harness?

Since the 08E60-S5D-100 was discontinued by Honda, I purchased 08E50-S5D-100F which has a security system along with a keyless control for DX for my civic lx. However, after the installation and programming, the remotes can only control the security system but not the doors. In the manual, it says both the white terminal and blue/orange terminal need to be connect to the connector to the security unit. But from some others said the blue/orange terminal needs to be connected to the cable which connect to the vehicle accessory cable under the radio. But I have no idea how to do that. Do you have any suggessions??? thank you so much!

Can anyone tell where I need to tap the Blue/Orange wire into? I am assuming either the ECU or somewhere by the fusebox. I have PM'd mikkellucci but it doesn't look like he has logged on recently.
Thanks, Brian

i've been dissecting a wiring schematic and the blue/orng seems to go to the security control module, but not all cars have this? right?! (my car is an lx with no keyless, and obviously no alarm) from there it seems to go to a "multiplex control unit" that's where the blue/orange wire terminates and the trail ends.

i'm considering just buying 08E50-S5D-100F as well, since finding the original keyless and harness, or even just the harness. is proving impossible.

I know this is a super old thread but does anyone know what he means by BLU/Orange=data to ecu? Do I run the wire all the way back to the ecu? If so where. I have tried to hook it to the accessory wire that was taped to the cig lighter and to the blu/orange wire that runs through the main harness. HELP PLEASE

Wow is this an old thread!!!

So was anyone successful in wiring a non-keyless entry car with a oem keyless module?
I have a 2001 civic lx without keyless entry but was able to find a keyless entry module 38385-S5A-A and remotes i wanted to see if anyone could assist me in how to install it.

Questions:
1) Does anyone have pictures of the place I would find the OEM module and plug
2) If needing to wire manually does anyone know the details for all the wires?

Thanks in advance and sorry to bring back a very old thread.

Actually I purchased the same thing for my 2001 honda civic. The problem is that this particular unit comes for only DX and VP models that does not have power locks. The keyless entry module acts only as an receiver so that the remotes fobs can be used only for to Arm and Dis-arm the security system. I have installed the entire think thru honda dealership but the keyless does not work yes the security system is intact. I am still looking for the oem keyless entry harness as that will be the only think for the keyless to work.
