Aftermarket Stereo W/ Keyless Entry : 98 Civic :
I know that the factory keyless entry runs through stock radio, and I need to keep it connected when buying a new one. I was just wondering...what did you guys do with the factory one?
Is there room behind the dash for it to just sit? And where did you buy your harness?
Thanks

I have taken the front control part of the radio off so it fits behind the dash more easily.

That's what I did too. After needing to be reprogrammed (which requires plugging the face back in) so many times, the keyless finally just stopped being able to be programmed.

mine sits directly behind the compartment above the cupholders, kind of at a 45 degree angle. You could see the face lit up through the slot in the climate slider so I put some black electrical tape over it. I didnt take the face off but I think I took maybe the side or the top metal piece off it, its a tight fit.

i've done car audio installs for about 4 years now, if you have the factory cd player infront of the cupholders it is hard to get back there, if not it shouldn't be too bad to do. if you're a perfectionist, and you have the time, you can extend all the wires and mount the factory cd player underneath one of your seats, it's a pain but you really don't have to worry about scratching up your factory radio if you ever decide to put it back in, hope this helps.

I'm a perfectionist. It bothers me to have stuff under my seats.
