So i just did a head gasket job on my 05 Civic EX. After getting everything together, the engine started on the first crank. No CEL. I took the car for a test drive, getting up to 70 mph. Still no CEL. Pull the car in to change the oil, start it and everything is good. Go to test drive it, and about a half mile down the road the car stalls. CEL is now on, giving code P0340. The car is in limp mode, cant go past 3400 RPM. It will also stall intermittently.
Also, a peculiar thing, it wont start on the first turn of the key. But if I try a second time, it always starts.
This is very confusing, seeing how the car ran fine with no CELs, and then right after the oil change this happens.
My first thought is the cam position sensor is bad, or my timing belt is off. Would the car even run if the timing was off? Could it have slipped a tooth after the oil change? I'm very lost here and would appreciate any input.

I had the same problem after replacing the head gasket in my '05 ex. Same code and random stalling. Rechecked the timing and it was good, ended up replacing the camshaft sensor and that resolved the problem for me.
