Default Changing the Engine Cooling system??

I found out that the engine coolling radiator system is liquid is green? I think it not good and might affect the engine. I'm going to drain the cooling liquid but i need to know if prestone is good engine cooling for honda Civic? Never try or used before. Will be O.k to put Prestone cooling on both Radiator and reserve tank? Help

It's supposed to be green. That's called antifreeze/coolant.

At the shop i used to work at we used to get plenty of Honda's with the extended life coolant that is blue. So not all coolant is green. GM uses orange coolant.

The OP's concern was that the green coolant was somehow harmful to his vehicle, which is unlikely if it's the original Honda coolant.
The "new and improved" coolant is, as you stated, blue. However, the "old and obsolete" Honda coolant was green.

ken9, there is some debate on whether it's safe or not to use Prestone. Personally, I would, and will, use the Honda Type 2 coolant when it's time to flush my system.

You saying that the green liquid mean it O.k? How do i know if my engine coolant need replacement. I brought prestone but i cannot seem to find the original honda engine coolant except the dealer. They charge very expensive. $80 to 100 bucks.

I do believe he's referring to the cost of labor, as well. Not just the price of the coolant.

ken9: Yes, the green coolant should be okay. You can test your coolant with pH strips. However, depending on how many miles your car has, it may need it as routine maintenance. If you want to buy some coolant/antifreeze I would buy it from here CLICK HERE - It's near the bottom of the page, and is $11.73 a gallon. I would buy two of them.

Edit: If you need help flushing your system CLICK HERE - There are two DIY (Do It Yourself) articles on that page. The coolant flush DIY is near the bottom of the page.

Yes changing and purchasing coolant liquid was pricey at the stealership. Great honda site but unfortunetely i live in Ontario so they wouldn't ship their products anywhere else except the U.S = ( That site have very good prices on HOnda products. Anyways, by to the engine coolant. The Kilometre is less 70,000. The radiator cap that i open have green liquid not the reserve tank. I was asking if need to change the coolant because my engine seen to be heating quickly during the summers. Not sure if this have to do with it.

You're not ready for maintenance yet. You car doesn't have enough miles.

If your temperature gauge is only around the halfway mark, and it's not overheating, I wouldn't worry about it.
