That's a pretty ridiculous response. I've had three different cars on nitrous, running up to a 100shot on a bone stock engine. I ran it for over a year and half without even a hint of problem.
It's like anything else, if you have a failure, or it's detonating/running lean, then it's gonna go...period. Nitrous isn't the voodoo of the 70's...systems make it pretty failsafe, but every once in a while **** happens.
