spots on windows

Re: spots on windows (krazynub)
get a really good window scraper (with squeegee on one side and "bug scrubbing" sponge on the other). Scrub it with car wash soap, or bug/tar remover if the soap doesn't get it clean. Then, windex and newspaper will polish off all the water spots that are left.

H. acid is fine and dandy but you don't want it hitting your paint.
I think Fine Steel Wool is a better answer. It can take off water spots, overspray, etc..

Haha, what do you charge? 5 bucks? Or just a few pinches of blow?

The Hydrochloric Acid is actually a mild mixture of it. I get it from my work, it is made by CRL and is called "Water Spot Remover", its meant for shower doors. Basically wipe on and wipe off.
The steel wool trick works too as long as you keep it wet and use 000 or finer. But it will still leave swirl marks in the glass so you have to polish the glass afterwards. Same goes for wet sanding.
I've heard of using vinegar and heard that it works but haven't tried it myself.

I don't think that will work on old water spots. Maybe on recent ones.

Are your windows tinted? 90% of people won't see or notice any hairline scratches but it does leave some. They show up more when the windows are tinted but they are so minor most people won't notice. If you don't see them then who cares, its your car. I just prefer other methods because the hairline scratches are something I notice and that may just because I work with glass every day.
And clay bar won't remove most water spots. It will remove newer ones and doesn't hurt to give it a try but I've never had luck with it.

Re: (TwistedSI)
My windows are not tinted.
I'm pretty **** about things like that and I would notice right away unless my vision is failing me.
Edit: I do make sure my windows are clean first.
