Default opinions on carbon fiber hoods

since my hatch has been wrecked, i'm looking at getting a carbon fiber hood for my 92-95 hatchback. if you could post some pics of your hood and where you got it and what you paid for it, that would be very helpful.

or if you know a good website to go to, that would also be great.

i'm looking for something in the 300 - 450 dollar range. i don't want anything like benen or spoon, they're too expensive or take too long to get.

thanks in advance.

A CF hood is a good way to save some weight and replace a damaged OEM hood at the same time.

CF hoods look good mostly when you have no dings whatsoever. i see people that just replace there hood cause they dented there original and slap it on and it totally stands out from the rest of the car. and they usually don't fit that good.

hes right.. why replace your OEM hood with a hood that doesnt match the car? most CF hoods dont even match black cars.. but hey, your car, your money.

To save weight and, personally, I like the vented hoods b/c I am not comfortable with how hot my engine bay gets.

IMO. if u were to get a CFhood...get fiber images...it practically unbreakable..there was an incident when my GF's lil sister threw a basketball in the air, and hit my cfHood really hard, but no damage at all...if u ask for an opinon, id say http://www.fiberimages.com goodluck

Why paint a CF hood when the purpose is to safe weight. Car paint is pretty heavy, I'm sure it would add at least another 10lbs.

A good buddy of mine walked over my ViS hood, didnt even leave a mark, so there! He's a decently sized fellow, around 270 at the time.

thanks for the pic singlecam screamer.

i'm going to look at the bodykitsnw hood. a friend of mine has one on his '01 prelude and it's only about 10 lbs. lighter than the stock. it fit really good though.

thanks everyone.

i dont know if any of you guys have checked lately, but you can get carbon fiber hoods a lot cheaper than getting a new stock hood, then painting it. plus IMO they look better and save weight.

i was going to get the carbon fiber hood because i was going to start autocrossing my car, except now i think i might change my mind because weight reduction would move me out of STS class and into Street Mod.

unless i can find a nice hood for a decent price, i'm gonna just go with another stocker.
