Default motor oil on tires?

my buddy "heard" from somewhere and recommended me to use motor oil on my tires instead of regular tire polish. he said to do it once a week for four weeks, and the rubber will absorb the oil so much that i won't have to apply the tire polish for months. any truth to this?

Sounds like some kind of hidden secret in a video game.. like the free 10hp when you change the oil in a car before driving in gt3.

I know where he heard that. It was on Disc or History channel on some show. My gf got pissed at me cause I was watching it and not listening to her, and i caught that just before she came over to try to turn the TV off. It was some super professional detalier guy saying that.

But what happens when you drive off and the excess oil goes all down the side of your cars paint?

I think you have to have a certain amount of hp though before the trick works. But I could be wrong and probably am. I might try that oil on tires trick though...

My buddy used DOT3 brake fluid. Yes, same brake fluid that eats car paint...

Made the tires really black and shiny. One of them blew out later - looks like sidewall just came apart, so he decided to play it safe, replaced all 4, and never did it again.
