I think hes talking about the old Benz rims on the Jetta, which is somewhat gay

i did make the switch, from vwvortex.com to here and haven't regreted it once. i owned 3 85-92 gti's at one point, 2 of which i swapped and one of which was just parts. i had a 2.0l sohc crossflow in my 86gti stock. and i had a 87 gti with a stage 3 g60 supercharged motor in it. never ran it at the track but i was guessing high 13's. should have put down about 190 hp at the wheels but that was when i was boosting 12lbs. it was fun while i had it but i'm so glad to own honda now and I know that i always will own nothing but the best.
If you thought honda's were a pita to wire, try a vw, never again.!!!!!

hey, i wanna see those pics(all i see is red x's).
i love vw's to especially A2's but the aftermarket is just to expensive with them and swaps(vr6/1.8t) cost too much/take a month or more to be done right, so i'm making the switch to honda.

I would of liked this topic if you didn't start off with, make the switch, I don't think anything could pull me away from honda - know what I mean.
Whatever though, some VW's have some good perfromance, just to heavy IMO.

How fast can you make those things? I know you can chip them and stuff. Its just that I had a buddy that used to want an old GTi and changed his mind after hearing a couple of VW owners bouncing off the wall about low 15's. Any input?

i think it has to do with the style of the cars and the way the thread was presented.
the cars are don't really have any of the racing traits/characteristics that we all find appealing. they are just for looks, from what i can see (lowered beyond function, big heavy rims, etc.).
the thread seemed like one designed to promote a switch from honda to vw, even though it appears to be nothing more than a creative title. i have noticed that such creativity is not very well recieved here, but what should i expect? it's honda-tech.

unlike jdm,...euro is about subtle mods, blinged out and/or deep dish wide rims, euro spec parts, slammed, pulled fenders, among other things.
about performance,
we know that we wont be hitting 13s anytime soon, so we do the best we can with it.
all those cars pictured in the first post are vr6's, the blue jetta with the benz rims is one of the first 1.8t swaps i can remember [its showing a little teeth in the front], and the red golf has a vr6 swapped into it [which is owned by a girl btw].
they can be fast, but for show...where are you gonna be running, so slammed and rims is appropriate.
dont hate,....its just euro.

a clean car is a clean car...whether it be a honda, vw, hyundai, or whatever... you should give respect where it's deserved... i went to a vortex meet a few times with some friends and all the cars were done up clean with power to back it up...except for this beetle with altezzas and a vinyl flames...other than that, vw's are great
