Default Doublechecking spray painting procedure

This is using advance auto high gloss automotive paint, so there's no clear involved. The surface (a car) is already painted, so I'm just scuffing the existing paint and painting over, rather than stripping down to metal. If the results are good, i'll strip it down to metal and redo it.

1. Sand surface with 400 grit
2. Wash surface with soap and water
3. Dry completely
4. Spray multiple coats of color onto body, following directions on can
5. Allow time to dry
6. Sand with 1000-2000 grit
7. Polish until smooth

If I were to add a clear coat, I'd add it here, followed by sanding and polishing again.

After that, wax and I'm done.

Sound about right?
