Did you check the heads for warpage? Any cracks in the cylinder walls?

Which bank?

Um, who told you that!?! There shouldn't be ANY water in your engine. Did you change the oil and filter?

when you blew the head gasket some oil may have been leaking into the cylinder for the last short while you were driving the car even for just a few miles and oil and water may have gotten into your exhaust pipe so you may just be having some burn off from the pipe itself continue to drive the car for another 20 miles or so and if its still smoking check for loss oil or water

It's possible you're burning off moisture in the exhaust system, but that wouldn't have continued for five miles unless water is continuing to leak into one or more cylinders.

Were it my car, I'd pull each plug in sequence, pressurize each cylinder and look for bubbles in the radiator.
