anyone, correct me if i'm wrong, but the difference is that the k24a8 (06-07) is more electronicly based then the k24a4 (03-05)... the ECU is different, the most known difference is the throtle body that everyone with the k24a8 has a problem tuning

K24A4 is for the 04 motor and the K24A8 is the 07. One difference is the camshaft is more aggressive on the k24A8, which provides an extra 6bhp and it revs 300 rpms more.

i've owned both an 03 and 07 i4;

intake bigger (snorkel/resonator before air filter)
exhaust bigger also
intake manifold has a resonator chamber added to improve flow
revised camshafts
electronic throttle

redline is the same
the biggest improvement is the midrange powerband

however, one thing that incredibly sucks about the K24A8 over A4 is the electronic throttle has terrible response when paired with auto tranny.
It is really laggy and often does not downshift when the old model was very responsive for an automatic

Great info.....

So the question is that if both motors have same milage & approx same cost (give or take $100 or so)... which one would you get for a swap (granted that later a k20 head was installed on it)

Thanks

i haven't looked in detail myself, so you should double check, but based on stuff honda has published, they didn't say there was any change to the short block.

especially if you are going to change the head/manifolds anyways, there doesn't seem to be any difference between the blocks.
