Hi,

Does anyone know if Honda changed the automatic transmissions in the V6 Accord from model year 2005 to 2006?

Reason I am asking is I have an 03 with the famous transmission failure. Looking for a used one and the auto wreckers only list 03 - 05 as replacements. What few are available are high mileage and overpriced. 06 and 07 models, however, are easy to find with very low mileage (but still overpriced).

I thought the drive train was unchanged from 03 - 07. Can anyone explain?

Sorry to say that i have less knowledge in this.may be some one else can help you out.

Talk to a reputable transmission shop, give them the details. There will be a difference, but whether or not these variances are significant or not, hopefully the shop can let you know. Good luck, I'd be trying the same thing.

Thanks, guys, good advice but I am not close to anyone in the know. The closest tranny shop is an hours drive away (and I did get the car to them) but they don't seem keen on rebuilding it themselves. They suggested I look for a used one; their quote for a rebuild was $2200 + 330 shipping + taxes. I'm looking at $3700 installed.

If that doesn't shock you, the price I received from Honda dealer was $7040 + tax for a new one (not installed).

I like the car and was planning to keep it for another year or two but this is crazy.
