Rear Pads and Rotors Replacement
I have a 2003 Honda Accord V6 and had my rear pads and rotors replaced about 23000km ago. Six months later I had my front pads and rotors replaced. No problems there, just regular wear and tear. Then, recently I went in for a schedule service and the dealer informed me that my rear pads and rotors need to be replaced again. I asked what the life expectancy of these parts were and he said between 60-80K kms. After they serviced my car they found that my front pads and rotors still had plenty of life in them, and they're the parts that are doing most of the stopping. It didn't make sense that the rear pads and rotors should degrade so quickly when they're doing the least amount of work. Has anyone else had problems with Honda replacement pads and rotors with such a short life-span?

Re: Rear Pads and Rotors Replacement
There are many owners who have posted here about premature wear on rear pads. My 03 V6 rear pads were replaced at 47k miles (don't know what that equates to in km). The front pads didn't require replacement until 60k miles. I am still on the original rotors, and didn't have them turned. If you are not hard on your brakes, you may have a problem with either the callipers or the emergency brakes not releasing. You would think the dealership has seen enough of this to find a common problem, and a fix by now. Haven't heard a definite answer on that.

Re: Rear Pads and Rotors Replacement
Did you check the rotors and measure the linings yourself? It's very common for the rear rotors on these cars to corrode heavily on the inside surface (facing the dust shield) in snowy northern climates. The heavy rust on the rotors will chew up the pads pretty quickly. In this instance, the pads and rotors will require replacement much sooner than the expected service interval.
They may or may not be BSing you, but you may want to get a look at the parts yourself before making any assumptions.
