P0171 after auto accident, pls help!
Hi everyone
This morning I was hit by another car on the driver side of my 2005 Honda Accord LX, 2.4L. The other car hit the bottom of the drivers side back door and rear tire. While the cosmetic damage isn't too bad, after collecting a police report I drove away and about 10 minutes later my CEL came on. I took the car to Advanced Auto and ran a code scanner and the only code to come up was the P0171: "Bank 1 system too lean." Can this code be related to the accident? What does it mean and what would I have to have done to fix it? I do not work on my own car. I almost always bring it to the Honda dealership because they can get me in and out same day. I have had the car in the shop several times over the last few months for several thousands of dollars of work, the cat converter, both O2 sensors, brake work, axel and ***** joints and so much more, that I really do not want to dump another $1000 in it...my deductible for my insurance is $500, and I'm not sure what I would have to pay out of pocket if I claimed the accident with the other guys insurance...which if the cost to fix my car would be more than $500 I would do....can someone offer some sound advice here? Thanks!
