oil change fluid
Hi,
07 Accord LX, 4cyl, 45k
I recently got a oil change and noticed the shop used 10w30. Should I change the fluid to 5w20 right away or wait till the next oil change.

Let me guess, you used a coupon for $16.99 oil change. And that's what they did. Right? If you were to ask for the proper oil, the price would be $32.99.
Anyhow, you already paid for it. So just use it. Not a big deal. Your engine is not going to blow up or suffer any damage.
I have used 10-30 on my 06 I4, in the past, and on other cars that recommend something else. No biggies. Just remember to use the proper oil next time.

Sure. The key word is extended. I'm not suggesting to use the wrong oil. More so to rest his mind about using something that is not OEM recommended. He is going to chang it again soon (3 months or MM depends on which he wants to follow), so why waste good oil.

dan_g: If you want a bit of science to accompany our opinions that 10W-30 shouldn't concern you, you can Google the Widman Viscosity Tables and compare 5W-20 with 10W-30 at various temperatures. It works out to about a 20% increase in viscosity across a broad range of temperatures. It's hardly significant and (particularly if you could care less about CAFE standards) it may even be beneficial. In this regard, there are a LOT of Honda owners who choose to run 5W-30 rather than 5W-20 as a matter of course.

Thanks for all your replies. I just wanted to check if it was ok till the next change.
I did have a coupon and it said they use 5W20. When paying, I asked the manager the oil weight and he said he used 5W30 as they dont have 5W20. He did say that in Tampa, FL 5W30 is used on all cars.
I am at 45k. Around 60k I will start changing the oil myself.
