Need some brake tips on a 2007 Accord V6 sedan
Hey fellas,
I've worked on brakes a few times on my older '88' CRX si and it was fairly easy.
How different are the front brakes on my wifes '07' Accord? The smart people at Jiffy Lube said it would require special tools to work on the front brakes is what they told her. Not sure what they exactly meant by that.
I'm sure I'll need to compress the calipers like most cars and maybe bleed the brake lines if needed and probably re-surface the rotors. Anything else I should know about working on the brakes of this vehicle?
Thanks in advance fellas!

2007 honda is the latter, slider bolts and yes you compress pistons. no need to bleed unless you break the lines.
Open master cylinder cover before expanding pistons and if its full be prepared for some overflow when piston is pushed back.
I am sure a google search will probably bring up DIY on brakes.

just like LEPD said the only time special tools are needed are sometimes rear brakes.
it's a cube looking tool that is attached to a ratchet. Sorry i don't know what it is called.

Did you check the rear brakes. Most 7th gens wear the rear faster than the front. The front pads are pretty easy. Take the bottom bolt out from the calliper, swing the calliper up, and remove the old pads and shims. If the new pads don't come with shims, use the old ones, just clean them up first. Push the piston back in (with a C clamp). Apply the anti-squeal paste to the pads and shims, put them back in the calliper, swing it back down, and put the bolt back in. I would not even have the rotors turned, unless you are experiencing vibrations.

you missed a step. always apply lube to the caliper slides. this is an important step no lube to caliper slides can lead to a frozen pin. pull the pins out lube it with brake grease.

I didn't even take the pins out on my first pad change. The pads were wearing pretty even, and the callipers moved freely, so I let the old grease go. I might do it for the second go-round.
