Hit a curb during last snow. Please help!
2004 Honda Accord - manual
So during the last snow I slid into a curb and hit the rear driver side wheel. scuffed the rim but not horrible damage, was only going about 5-10 mph. Well after hitting the curb I inspected the damage and didn’t see anything that was obvious other than a scuff mark on the rim. Got to our destination which was only about a mile up the road. Got back into the car to drive home and the rear end was making a deep humming noise as you would hear on a truck jacked up with big mud tires on it. soft at first around 15 mph and then louder as you get up to 40+ but not significantly louder like you couldn’t hear yourself talk in the car. It seems to me that the sound is coming from the trunk or middle of the back seat not actually allocated to a certain side. The car is front wheel drive but only the rear driver side wheel hit. Any suggestions as to what the noise may be? I drove the car and tested breaking and alignment all of which is ok. It’s just the noise that concerns me. Have yet to pull wheel off but looked at the under carriage and didnt see anything alarming. Any response is much appreciated
Thanks

May have damaged the wheel bearing.... get it on jacks or a lift and check
for movement or noise when spinning the wheel.
I would also suggest an alignment. May have bent suspension components
that you can't see just by looking at it.

id spin the wheel on a jack first to see if its the wheel making the noise and if not get an alignment. most likely going to need an alignment after hitting a curb, prlly through it out of alignment a few degrees.

The wheel may be bent, the tire may be damaged, the bearing may be damaged, you may have damaged/bent/broken several suspension components.

Most likely a wheel bearing issue, pretty common after a curb impact although there is a slight chance the alignment is out far enough to cause increased tire noise.
Definately have the alignment checked as well though.

I had the exact same thing happen on my Subaru today.
I can hear the hummin noise from 50kmh to 100 kmh. After going 100 kmh (60mph) the noise humming dissapears.
I wonder if its wheel bearing as well?
If the rim was bent there would be vibrations, correct?

take the rim to a shop and have them check it. could have bent the rim. or it could have been enough to throw off the balance. if it messed with the alignment you would have to keep correcting it on a strait road. (more than you use to if your car wasn't aligned)

whats that in mph? the most noticeable noise from out of balance rims is right around 35 and again between 55-60. at 80+ and 35- the noise will seem to go away

But if the rim is bent, wouldn't it vibrate?

sounds like a wheel bearing, rise the rear with a jack or put on lift nd spin the wheel, if theres any tighteness, lik it doesnt roll easily, or u can flat out hear a noise, then the wheel bearing is bad
