Does the new k24 have exhaust VTEC this time?
Does the new 190hp K24 have both in. & ex. VTEC cams, or 2-stage, or is it just a beefed up single-stage?

Crash testing? In California? The IIHS facillity is in a little town in the country in Virginia. For whom are you crash testing?

The improvement in HP and economy comes mostly from better use of intake and exhaust designs, and a better computer programme.
Regardless of where the VTEC is, i-VTEC in combination with that computer's giving you 190 HP is giving you a motor that feels pretty good to drive in the situations for which it was designed.
If you're after an autocross car or track car, then maybe you want the 200 HP motor in the TSX instead of the 190 HP motor in the Accord, but either one would be very good as a regular daily driver.

WELL PUT!!! 190hp is really good too! That would be a good swap probably, especially since you can run 87 octane and still get like 35mpg.

Is this motor you are talking about the K24z3? You have the Accord motor. Its the exact same as the new TSX motor, the ECU is different, and your version is the detuned version compared to the TSX 09+

Unsure if the new motors will follow the same trends but the 04-08 TSX has Vtec on both intake and exhaust profiles as opposed to just intake on many other k24's but the difference can be accommodated for with a good pair of cams and minor mods. I prefer the strongest base to begin with. More potential

so are you saying from the old gen7accord k24 engines, k24a4 or 8 due to DBW on that K and current accord. You're saying if I pulled the ecu from the new accords and slap it on it will function better?!? IMO I highly doubt that.

Somebody bumped the thread. His posts are from 2008, and he never came back to answer the query asking for whom he was crash testing.
I am sure that he did not mean to say that, exactly. There are hardware differences.
190 HP in an Accord five speed Coupe is fairly peppy. If you start modifying one of these new motors, IMHO, you're going to end up spending so much time and money that you're probably better off just saving more and longer, and getting a six cylinder six speed to start with.
Modifying K motors is hugely entertaining, but it's going to turn into a money pit (IMHO) if you're doing this to a new Accord that is meant to be used for daily transportation. Sure, it's pretty easy to add 50 HP to a K24...but it's going to be trouble, and risky unless you're doing the work yourself and know what you're doing...and expensive up to the point that you're probably going to wonder why you didn't get a J motor to start with.
I think that in the big Honda world, the J motor is hugely under-rated and under-praised. I guess it's because we all grew up with little B motors and we think that we're supposed to be modifying little four cylinders to get the power.
