Battery
The battery in my Honda Accord is about 3 1/2 years old. I was looking to get another. I went down to Sears and they have the Die Hard Gold for 79.99. It has 495 CCA. I was just wondering what the OEM battery has and if I should choose a different brand. Thanks

Re: Battery (Accord1234)
There are only two (maybe three) companies that make batteries. The companies that sell them put their own stickers on them. You will pay more for a Die-Hard, because of the name brand. You can probably get the same battery at Sam's or Walmart for less. I paid $45 for my battery at Sam's, and it has more CCAs than the original. Do some research, and save some $$.

Re: Battery (Smitdog)
Those 100 months are pro-rated right? I can get two batteries for the price of one from the dealership. My wife was at the local dealership when the service manager wanted to sell this lady a battery for $100. He told her it was a "special" battery, and that she needed to get the battery from them. She said hogwash, and called Sears on her cell phone. The lady ended up at Sears, but she could have done even better.

Re: Battery (BLKFLSH)
Pro- rated is correct. The battery is a rebaged battery from Interstate Battery who is our soul battery supplier. A cheaper battery shall suit the purpose just fine.

Re: Battery
Any battery being pro-rated is usually adjusted from an unrealistic "list" price.I just replaced one, a 72 month, two year free replacement battery that was purchased from O'really auto parts.Just for kicks, I stopped and had them test the battery and give me a price on an adjusted replacement. My battery had 52 months of use, adjusted price was $84,new battery would be $115.This all sounded pretty good until I asked if the warranty would reset.Nope, warranty is on the old battery only.In other words, if it went bad next week it would cost another $84. I picked up my old battery and went to Walmart, purchased their three year free replacement Maxx battery for $107.
