2011 Accord Emissions Drive Cycle - Evap System
My girlfriend has a 2011 Accord with 40k miles that is due for CA Smog. The battery was disconnected recently so we are struggling to go through the Drive Cycle and get the system to complete all the emissions readiness tests. She's already driven it around a bit, and tonight we went through the Drive Cycle process laid out in the manual. She had already driven over to my house so the car wasn't completely cold on starting the drive cycle. But other than that we went through the whole process, idle for 20 sec, rev at 2k for 2min, idle for 20 sec, drive on freeway for 20min w/o cruise control (keeping gas pedal constant for 90 periods), and driving in the city for 10 min with coasting for several seconds. This cleared the O2 readiness, but we can't get the Evap System to clear. I also read online you should run the A/C and rear defrost while idling in drive for 20 min, then accelerate to 55 and coast down to 20mph, but that did not clear it either.
How precisely do you need to follow the Drive Cycle instructions in the manual? It says things like "While driving 55mph don't move the accelerator for 90 sec", does that mean take your foot off it, or just hold it in a constant position? I'm not a robot, if I move it a little bit will that be a problem? How big of a deal is it that the car may have been a little warm at the start of the drive cycle? She had driven it about 20 miles, then it sat for an hour, then we drove it maybe 5 min to the gas station so it would have 1/2 tank before starting the drive cycle. Do you guys have any other suggestions to get the Evaporative System to Complete?
Attached are the results from Torque, can also be seen here: https://ibb.co/fsT2pb

Re: 2011 Accord Emissions Drive Cycle - Evap System
The drive cycle has to be followed to the T. It is meant to be done on a dyno, not the streets.
With the EVAP monitor, 2 of the prerequisites are fuel level no more than 3/4 full and no less than 1/4 empty. The monitor runs on its own, when the car is off, over night. Usually takes several cycles for it to run(depending on ambient temp)
With that said, the EVAP monitor is the only monitor that can be NOT set and it will pass emissions.
