Default code 171

2006 accord 4 cyl. I changed the air filter and then the check engine light came on with code 171. I cleaned the mass air sensor and the light came on again. What next?

Check if the air cleaner housing cover was re-installed correctly. You may have left an air gap in the air cleaner housing. Also, check the condition of the air filter gasket to ensure it was not pinched.

Need to look at the fuel trim to see what kind of lean condition it is.

However, a common problem I have found on that year Accord is the air boot cracked and leaking.

Neither of those will set this code The code is the result of unmetered/unreported air. In otherwords, air intrusion that is occurring after the MAF

(MAF contamination is possible, but he did not mention drivability problems)

The MAF sensor getting debris from unfiltered air will set that code.

Yeah,I acknowledged that possibility(slim as it may be)but I have never seen a MAF with debris that didnt have a drivability problem. Id say its almost impossible not to have a drivability issue with a mucked up MAF.

He didnt mention a drivability problem, though I suppose he could have forgot to mention it...
