2008 honda accord serpentine pulley help
I have never run into this before, has everyone else seen this?
I could move the car without budging the pulley! I was using a
breaker bar and pulling the correct way! 2008 accord v6.

Re: 2008 honda accord serpentine pulley help
Sorry. Has anyone ever run into a seized serpentine belt pulley?
I have never ran into one. When this happens since the spring rides
against the bearing should the whole assembly be replaced or can
just the pulley be replaced? Thank you in advance

I'm still confused. Are you trying to replace the belt and having issues with the Hyd tensioner?
Please note, this is not a "spring loaded" tensioner.

If you put a 14mm socket on a breaker-bar, and put it on the tensioner pulley bolt, you can't move the tensioner away from the belt? Hard to imagine it locking up like that.

Re: 2008 honda accord serpentine pulley help
I know. I have changed dozens of serpentine belts through the years,
this is a first! I weigh 250 pound and put everything I had behind it!

Slow steady pressure is what you need.
Again, these are a Hyd tensioner and are WAY different than a spring loaded one.
With the Hyd tensioner, put about 100 lbs of force on it at a steady rate/pressue. It will slowly release.
Unlike the spring loaded ones, if you try to "jam" the thing all at once, the hyd pressure it is going to win.
Take is slow and easy.......another good song reference

My pleasure to try to help.
Should have seen me when I first tried to change the serp belt on the wife's Pilot. I tried the "jam that spring loaded tensioner" and lost. After 20 minutes of trying I finally came in and read the service manual........said, ah damn. Five minutes later it was off.
