2004 Accord EXL-V-6 Problem; please share your opinions!!
Hey guys, Have an 04 V-6 Accord. Just had the 105,000 mile service performed at dealership last weektiming belt, water pump, seals, etc...), On the way home from work yesterday, passed a car and engine light started blinking and then stayed lit. (It is the engine light and not the maintenance req'd light.) This light has never come on before besides first starting the car, and the car was purchased brand new with 5 miles on it. Called dealership; was told to bring it in- would be around $70 to diagnose the problem. Its hard to insinuate anything, but the car was fine until this service. Coinsidence or Irony? Please help! William

talk to the Svc Manager... you shouldnt have to pay for the diagnostic esp if it kicks an error related to work they recently did. i'd also talk to him anyway about getting that $70 waived in lieu of you doing the major service last week... its just labor to hook the car up to the diagnostic machine and get a code reading....

If you make a big enough deal out of it and explain how it didn't come on until after they serviced your car. I'm sure they will waive the fee.

Any halfway good dealer will not charge you that if it was caused by their work, but getting them to admit it was caused by them is another story. Be reasonable and you will get a reasonable solution most of the time.
