2003 Honda Accord Wiper Linkage
Hello All,
Apparently some warranty repair was done to my windshield wipers sometime last year. Since then, my wipers have gone south. Here are some symptoms:
1. Wipers seem to "slam down" on top speed. This gets worse on a wet windshield (I know...who uses the wipers on a dry windshield).
2. On lower speeds, the wipers go through the cycle but have a little bounce at the end of the cycle.
3. They don't always end up all the way down in the final resting position, sometimes they are slightly up.
4. Yesterday, on the intermittent setting, the wipers would cycle once...pause...cyle twice in a row...pause...cycle once for a few times and then do a double again.
I took the car in and was told the linkage system had to be replaced and that it had nothing to do with the warranty work done earlier. Fine, the price to replace the linkage was out of my range so I need to do the work myself. I'm not a mechanic but I can handle small jobs given the right instructions.
Every diagram I see has several fasteners holding the cowl down. I can only find four. Is there a trick to taking the cowl out so I can access the linkage? If anyone has step by step instructions/diagrams on removing the cowl, Iwould appreciate it. Any other input about the symptoms is also appreciated.
Regards,
Ed, Houston

Re: 2003 Honda Accord Wiper Linkage
I have a similar problem with my wipers at times.. it's funny that mine seems to be like yours in that its only a problem when it rains... haha but my wipers will pause mid wipe sometimes.. and wait 1, 2, 3, ... 8 seconds before it starts back up. I always forget about it, till it rains and then I'm like "AHHH DAMMIT I FORGOT TO ASK THE GUYS AT HONDA-TECH AGAIN!!!" So whats the verdict guys??? Am I hosed?
Mines a 2003 V6 auto EX with about 117k miles on it...
Thanks
