So, my car has intermittently thrown P2197's at me for the past five years or so. P2197 has to do with the I'll drive for a couple days and it will go off. Six months later it will pop on for another day or so, then go off...

So the story has gone for years. P2197 just popped up again this morning (it's the only code), and I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or knows of a fix. I read in another forum that the ECU's required a firmware update back in '06 or '07, and I doubt my car had it done.

It doesn't affect the ride of the car at all. Everything feels normal. Everything sounds normal. Everything smells normal. It's just annoying that this keeps happening and I'm finally at the point where I might want to do something about it (if there's anything to be done).

I found a service bulletin on the issue (SB 04-038). Any idea on whether or not I can get a dealer to look at this/fix it for free?

Some dealers may do it under a 5/60 or 8/80 but doubtful that they will now...
