Default Window problem

hah, i bet you thought it was another window motor problem thread didnt you? nope, my problems a little more fragile, see i replaced all window motors in my accord, brand new switches and everything, then the passenger side front window would roll down perfect but rolling up it would go slow as hell or wouldnt go at all, i thought it was a bad motor or switch, then i started paying attention to it and today i finally took a look at it, when my window goes down its fine, but when it goes up for some reason the glass itself shifts out of place and rubs hard against the window frame so this stops it, i know this is the problem because i manually hold the window in place while pressing the switch and the window rolls up fine.

Anyways im looking for advice on what i should do, if anyones had this problem before, im pretty good when it comes to cars and fixing problems ive just never ran across something like this before and i dont want to buy new glass. Any help would be appreciated .

Mike

I would make sure that the two screws that hold the window to the regulator are tight.

Maybe also go ahead and take some lithium grease to the track just to reduce the friction and see if that helps.

Also check the seal on the bottom of the door, sometimes that will drag on the window and prevent it from going up correctly.

ive checked just about everything besides trying to force the glass back into place, haha, ill check the screws though you could be right, but the only thing holding it back, and i swear man its so weird, when i hit up, the glass literally moves to the right about 2 inches and rubs against the frame of the window

This can be caused by two things.
Dirt in the window guide channels (causing drag)
Excessive space between channels, allowing the glass to "Tilt (I was going to use the 'C' word, but thought better of it)" in the guides and bind the window
or any combination of the two.

I had to give you a generic answer since you didn't supply the year of your car

anyways, i think im gonna open up the door again tomorrow and have a look see, im good with electrical ****, but when it comes to glass i tend to stay away because i have a habit of not being too careful with fragile things, and end up breaking them. So im going to be as careful as i can with this but this window is really ticking me off how it wants to jump off to the side

the window regulator has sloted holes where it mounts you and adjust it there it just needs to be adjusted that all. its rather commen on the 94-97 accords we adjust a few a year at work. just play with it and see which way it does the best and then make sure they are tight and put the pannel back on!

the prob is most likley not the regulator but the track itself..
1.remove door panel
2.loosen front window track bolt (10mm i think)
3.insert window glass back into rear track, there will be a slot in the rubber for it to go in.
4.tighten front track retaining bolt

first off make sure the window channel is not damaged in any part and that it is properly in the metal guides,,if so,, there are 2 10mm bolts at bottom of metal guides 1 on each end, loosen them up and push the guides inward to minimize slack, also do as P-adams suggested make sure channel is clean and free of debris ,,

99 Accord Front Window - Similar Problem
My front power window suddenly developed a problem today. As I was trying to open the window it went down slower than usual and there is some sort of grinding noise and when I tried to get it back up again it would not go all the way up. I took the door panel off and I was able to physically move/pivot the window left and right by a few degrees and help it to get back up. So there seems to be some resistance somewhere. I am leaning toward a regulator problem, since there is the grinding noise when the window moves up and down. Also the high strength wire braid connected to the pulley seems to have frayed and some strands are broken. Any comments?

There is a front and a rear "Sash" that holds and guides the window. Seeing that the symptom is that the window is tilting before it raises indicates that these are out of adjustment allowing the window to tilt and therefore bind. There is a set bolt at the top, and an adjustment bolt at the bottom. Loosen the top set bolt then the bottom adjustment bolt and move the bottom of the sash inward. I would try to do half the adjustment on the front sash and half on the back sash to remove the play. IE: If the play is about 1/2 inch, adjust each sash 1/4 inch. Careful not to over tighten or the window will bind due to tight sashes and may not go down without help. It is possible that the felt that sits inside the sashes is worn or dry rotted so your adjustments may not be easy or work at all.
