Default speedometer jumping

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone knew the reason why my speedometer spontaneously likes to peg 0mph to max and back down one day, and work fine the next. The car doesn't seem to drive bad, and I don't throw any cels...any help?
thx

Year, Model? If it's a 5th gen, it's a common problem. The solder points on inside the speedo tend to go bad. You'll have to pull the cluster and re-solder the bad points to fix the problem. This is next on my list of things to do.

I replaced mine. Could you elaborate some more on how to fix the old one?

Take something like magnifying glass or better yet, one of those little "monocal" things you see jewelers use, and check each of the solder points on the back of the circuit board. If they look "cracked", loose, or anything other than normal, re-solder

Yeah, i just did mine about a month ago. I think they put my post up in the FAQ. Just take a iron and melt all the joints on the IC (green board) and it'll be good. Mine has worked for over a month now. Got bored one day and was screwing with it, decided to give it a shot. It was broke anyways.
