Default Spark Plug

I was trying to replace all the spark plugs in my new used honda. I just bought the car about a week ago. Its a 91 lx. Anyways, In one of the holes the spark plug was surrounded by metal and I couldnt get the socket to get down there. I looked at the wires and it looks like the guy who had it before trimmed the diameter a bit to get it to fit past the metal thing thats surrounding it. Does anyone know what this could be?

i dont think its suppose to be like that?? i never heard of anything surrounding a spark plug or needing to trim something for it to fit...

dont force it if u cant get to it... you might end up damaging something... you can try different socket sizes to see if itll fit... make sure whatevers surrounding the spark plug dont fall in there, if u do get it loose... if not bring it to a shop and get that sucker pulled out somehow...

Its only one cylinder thats like that, the rest are normal. The only thing I can think of is that when the dude had the car the plug got seized up and he had to drill it out and he put this one in wit some metal crap. I have no idea though, so anyone else got a thought?

I had a spark plug sieze up in my head. Had to have the plug hole retapped. It was no big deal because I had the head off already. But, it's gonna cost you, if you have to have the head taken off, and have machine work done. Cost is in the removal of the head.
