Default slow engine warming up

my accord 01 coupe 2.3L has slow engine warming up,

it takes 5mins to warm up right now, the temperature is around 10- 15°C

If I drive the car before the engine warms up, i feel a little bit lag when I accelerate.

However, if the engine has already been warmed up, It accelerates smoothly.

anyone knows why does it happen?

thanx

the thermostat itself is like $7 if that. Not hard to do, but not easy either.

like tyte-s said thats normal for the operating temp not to warm up for about 5 mins, the only issue i see is why is it lagging when cold? what is this lag your feeling? have you used any o2 sensor safe fuel system cleaners recently?

i don't mean the engine temp., i mean the actual heat output. if your thermostat is stuck partially open, it could make your car take awhile to heat up. if your heat seems normal, then your o2 sensor might need to be changed.

when I accelerate, from 2000RPM-3000RPM, there is a lag, rpm will go down a little bit when hits 3000, then go above 3000.

I haven't used any o2 sensor safe fuel system cleaners, what is it about

i was just gonna say if you havent in a while go ahead and run some through, and run some bg intake system cleaner through the throttle body, and clean it up, see if it still lags. if so at least youve cleaned out your fuel lines and intake (assuming you have a clean air filter )

you may not need one, so don't go spending money yet. Do as accord99power says, and make sure your car is all tuned up, plugs and wires and such. If you're still having problems, then you may need a new o2 sensor as it may be on its way out.

no problem man no BG is the brand its called Intake system cleaner, alot of mechanics use it at shops when they "tuneup your engine" along with BG fuel system cleaner. But the intake system cleaner. Its actually a throttle body cleaner as well, not a carb cleaner. dont ask the difference though, hehe. but ive looked at the top of my pistons before and after and youll be amazed.

ahh gotcha. never heard of it before

i don't think it hurts to use carb cleaner vs throttlebody though, i can swear they say both on them but i could be wrong
