Default Skeptical to change ATF fluid 00 accord 2.3 215K

Hello,

So, my transmission fluid has not been changed in at least 115K miles. I bought the car at 98K so I can't speak to what service had been done previous. Anyways, I have read that when maintenance is this far passed due on transmission fluid, it can actually put a nail in the coffin of the tranny if you put new fluid in. I pulled the trans fluid dipstick, The fluid on it was red with a brown tinge. From what I can tell the fluid in the tranny is mostly red. Car is shifting Ok but is a little rough.
Thoughts on whether to change it or not?

Doing a drain and fill will only change about 3 quarts. Doing that and driving it a while then doing another drain and fill will probably not kill the tranny. A full flush with a machine will most likely kill it.

Hehe that is brown. Not red. I am sure it smells burnt.

Looks overfilled. That would contribute to the burned/brown condition. Yes I would change it. Just drain an refill least twice. Don't use a flush machine.
